Sorry for my late reply. I've already watched the two movie editions but I haven't taken a look at the book. Do I need to read the book? I prefer the later adaptation movie, so I might want to focus on the late one a little bit.
These are my research questions below:
1.What's the writing history of Roald Dahl, what gave him the inspiration to write the children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
2.What personality traits does Charlie possess that makes him become the winner in the end?
3. What's the difference between the original movie and Tim Burton edition? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each movie?
4.In a 2006 list for the Royal Society of Literature, Harry Potter creator J. K. Rowling named Charlie and the Chocolate Factory one of her top ten books every child should read. Why is the book ranked so high? What makes the book so unique?

You have a really interesting topic, Yue, and I think you will want to focus in on it even more. For example, do you want to focus on the author, the book, and the movie? If so, be explicit about that -- in fact, I think you have to given your description above. You mention how much the later movie impacted you, but it isn't clear whether or not you've read the book or viewed the original movie adaptation (which I actually like better than the remake -- I find them to be very different films in terms of the effect:). You have a lot to work with here, and I look forward to seeing the direction you go. Roald Dahl is such an imaginative author. Let me know if I can be of any help. Best, Dr. Young
